Epson: A new version of the R-D1 has been announced on the company's website. The R-D1x still has a 6mp APS-C sensor, but with a larger screen, support for SD-HC cards and a removable handgrip.

Unfortunately, it is only being released in Japan. Pictures using the R-D1 feature on the UKpix.com site

Canon 5D Mark II: the excellent Digital Photography Review (www.dpreview.com) has just posted a review of the Canon 5D Mark II.

It is well worth a read. And their conclusion: "Looking at the package as a whole the EOS 5D Mark II seems hard to beat."

News in brief
Leica S2
olympus 620

Leica S2: Leica has announced a new system (above) with a huge 30 x 45mm sensor, boasting 37.5 megapixels. According to the company, 'it’s a must for every professional photographer who is looking to upgrade from standard 35mm SLR systems'.

No doubt it will cost an arm and a leg (or even several). But if you are a pro already making enough money to justify the cost, will you really need one?

Olympus: Yet another DSLR has been launched by Olympus. The E-620 (above) is a 12.3MP camera with features of the new E-30, but nearly the size of the smaller E-420. It has image stabilisation, plus a 2.7" tilt and swivel LCD. From the E-30 come a selection of Art Filters, a Multiple Exposure mode, a choice of 4 aspect ratios. Olympus link
